Philosophy & aims
Edu School Philosophy and Aims:
Edu Space provides a meaningful response to young people experiencing complex and severe psychosocial, financial, systemic and clinical barriers which negatively impact school engagement.
Through the integration of theory and evidence- based frameworks from a variety of disciplines, we provide a project- based curriculum to meet the educational needs of each individual alongside a relational model of care to ensure their mental, physical and environmental safety.
Edu Space strives to create restorative outcomes and break the cycle of intergenerational trauma, poverty and oppression creating new futures and possibilities for young people.
Education Philosophies:
Education is safe when healthy relationships and engagement takes place.
Education is inclusive when learning is accessible for all students.
Education is empowering when wrap-around support happens through community
connection/cohesion.
Education is life, when it involves many cultural and social forms of capital
Education is transformative when it addresses poverty and trauma
These philosophies are integrated and condensed within the Edu Space Education Model which is guided by three alternative education frameworks. The Edu Space Education Model is Knowing, Growing, Showing and Going.
This program maps milestones of child/adolescent development. It was informed by the Berry Street Model and the 11 values of the Good Lives
Model (refer to Education Model Overview).
